The Artist Nude

So, my new friend said it would be okay if I posted the poem I wrote her. To help you understand, she is a really good artist, but is just starting out. Also, to help you understand what I mean, it is NOT sexual in meaning. I was afraid before that my new friend would misunderstand and think I'm a pervert, but she read it correctly. She is a smart woman, so I shouldn't have been so worried, but oh well, that's me. Here it is.

The Artist Nude
By Andrew D. Gadtke

She showed me her painting
A self-portrait
Pained and blue and nude

I showed her myself
The open book of my past
Tone
Mood

Then she showed me herself

And I looked and I saw
And I looked and I saw
Past the pretty to the fragile
And I looked and I saw
God's vision of the artist nude

She showed me her painting
And I looked and I saw
Suffering without meaning and having no goal

But when she showed me herself
All I saw was her beautiful soul
